Shannon Birk is a Certified Canadian Counsellor who has specialized training in individual and couple therapy. Shannon has completed a clinical internship in Bowen Family Systems Therapy, trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, become a certified Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) facilitator, and been educated in crisis intervention and victim support services.

Shannon works from a theoretical orientation that integrates Family Systems Theory and Cognitive Behavioural Theory in order to assist clients in understanding their role in the familial system and how their thought processes impact behaviour and emotional well-being. Shannon has counselling experience in a wide range of challenges, such as depression, anxiety, panic disorders, addictions, stress management, and relationship challenges.

Shannon believes in providing a safe environment where clients feel comfortable and at ease. Working together in a nonjudgmental and compassionate setting can allow clients to open up their thinking and gain an understanding that is in line with their goals.
