Nir Yahav holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from City University of Seattle and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. Nir is committed to his professional development and lifelong learning, and continues to update his knowledge by attending conferences on a regular basis. He maintains the skills and knowledge necessary to provide high standards of counselling practice, while upholding to the ethical standards put forth by the BCACC.                  

Nir has a wide array of experience in areas such as parenting and co-parenting support, anger management, depression and anxiety, addictions (including substance affected individuals), conflict resolution, collaborative problem-solving, addictions, and life transitions. Nir has worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and has the knowledge and experience to support each client’s individual needs. Nir employs various therapeutic modalities to support his clients including solution-focused brief therapy, client-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. Most of all, Nir’s therapeutic efforts are aimed at working collaboratively with his clients in a client-directed outcome-informed approach to helping clients achieve their goals.

As an advocate for ending relationship abuse, Nir was an active member of the Ending Relationship Abuse Society of BC for several years through his participation in workshops and Annual General Meetings. Nir has also participated in workshops to enrich his work with abusive men for whom he provides counselling support.  Furthermore, Nir was a guest speaker at the Richmond Family and Youth Court Committee conference in 2009 where he presented on the topic of ending violence towards women. Nir has also been both a facilitator and co-facilitator in many groups on topics such as anger management, dealing with addiction (individually and for family members), parenting support, intimate relationships, and depression.

Nir is inspired by having the unique opportunity of relating to people in a supportive way which helps facilitate their self-growth, awareness and self-fulfillment. Nir’s approach to working with clients emphasizes empowerment, compassion, and support.
