A Bit About Margaret
In my late forties, I responded to Life's call, put behind my past life as an environmentalist and parent volunteer, and entered the counselling psychology program at Trinity Western Unviersity. Three years later, I was awarded a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and faced a whole new life. I personally had to deal with the challenges of married life, the thrills and spills of raising teenagers, the hurts of past trauma, a high anxiety around the unknown, and the humiliation of a public-speaking phobia.
I am happy to report that much of my past trauma has been processed and integrated, I am still happily married, my children successfully made the transition to early adulthood, my anxiety levels are manageable, and I can now speak in front of a university class. That is not to say that my journey to wholeness is done but I have come a long way.
I come to you now as a 'wounded healer'.
Approach to Counselling
Life can be full of problems, anxieties, dead-end situations, or it can just feel 'empty' sometimes. During our individual counseling sessions, I can help you identify and understand your unique situation. Together, we will built an atmosphere of mutual trust, opennes, and honesty. Then we can work on finding the courage to address your situation and initiate positive changes. (I know it takes a lot of courage.)

We can explore what it is that you need and how those needs might be met to answer life's call and live life to the fullest. We all have something to offer this world. I use an experiential therapy (OEI) to help process past trauma that may be holding you back, and to initiate the healing process. As you begin to heal, you can move from a "stalled" position and engage in life. I primarily use existential analysis and solution-focued therapy to initiate and then encourage your movement towards personal growth and fulfilment.
