Additional Information about this counsellor or psychologist:

Lydia Rozental is an experienced Registered Clinical Counsellor who meets her clients in Vancouver and Richmond.

Lydia sees clients presenting with a variety of concerns spanning anxiety, panic attacks, depression, relational challenges, historical and/or more recent trauma, physical concerns (such as chronic pain, insomnia, digestive problems). Many of her clients have lost hope, don't trust knowing how to change habitual patterns, have tried ways which have not worked very well, or find that their support system doesn't acknowledge and/or like the changes they  are making. They may not feel safe emotionally and physically, may not trust because of their past experiences and may be scared to get close to others in case they get hurt again. The afore-mentioned complaints as well as misuse of substances, isolation, lack of intimacy and self-harm and/or harming others are some of the responses developed  over the years to deal with the hurtful, traumatizing past experiences. Some of these responses may become resistant to change even when change is wished and hoped for and the environment is safe.

Lydia creates a safe, welcoming and accepting environment with her clients. She listens well and stays close with the client's thoughts, emotions, non-verbal expressions, intentions and fears. Lydia's clients are witnessed with compassion, understanding and acceptance which enables them to open up, trust and explore, understand, express and let go of old, unnecessary patterns both towards themselves and their significant others (such as spouses, partners, children or friends who may be or not present in the sessions). Self-acceptance, clarity of purpose and becoming more of their potential reinforce each other. If wished, they try new steps in session as well as outside them (out of the many, a few can be mentioned here such as a piece of writing or art, a call to a significant other, breath, prayer or exclamation of gratitude).

Over the span of 30 years, Lydia has developed a significant number and depth of ways to approach her clients' concerns and help them heal themselves and their relationships. She works with the whole person - their thoughts, emotions, non-verbal expressions, actions, breath, intentions, spirituality - to foster safe and growth- inducing risks unique to each client. She uses EMDR , yoga therapy as well as many talk therapies (such as solution-focussed, narrative, response-based, social justice and collaborative therapy).  Lydia is rewarded daily by the hopeful and lasting changes in her clients' lives which she has witnessed hundreds of times.

Lydia Rozental is culturally adept, having lived and worked in 4 countries over long periods of time (over 30 years). She brings passion for the healing work which helps maintain vibrancy and continuous growth. Her Vancouver office offers an integrative team which includes Traditional Chinese Doctors, osteopaths, massage therapists, midwives, doulas and nutritionists, all devoted to working with the whole person and with each other, to benefit clients' needs. She is herself a dedicated practitioner of yoga and has been learning this ancient way of healing for many years.
