Additional Information about this counsellor or psychologist:

Dr. Lynda Murdoch is a Registered Psychologist who sees clients in Steveston, Richmond.

She works with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression and other psychological concerns that are disrupting their school and work lives, their social functioning and their relationships.  She recognizes that some people struggle on and off for years, while others experience symptoms seemingly out of the blue, and ensures that clients' sessions are tailored to their individual needs. She also understands that many people feel intimidated by seeing a mental health professional and ensures that she treats every patient with respect, warmth and good humour so clients feel comfortable, understood and respected.  Recognizing the high cost of psychological services, she works with clients to ensure that sessions are productive and recommends resources that clients can access outside of sessions.

Dr. Murdoch has worked for nine years for the Ministry of Children and Family Development and, in addition to individual sessions for clients ages 10 to 70, she also offers family and parent sessions for those struggling with parent/teen conflict or  teen mental health problems.  With or without the teenager's involvement, she can help parents strategize on how best to help the teen and provide information on resources available to the youth and parents in Richmond and outside our community and will, if appropriate, liaise with the youth's school counsellor, psychiatrist and other care team members.

Dr. Murdoch completed her Master’s and Doctorate Degrees in Clinical Psychology at Simon Fraser University, followed by an internship at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener-Waterloo. She employs a client-centred, non-judgmental approach and uses elements of cognitive-behavioural, solution-focussed and family systems therapies in her work.  She is an approved provider of services for Crime Victims Assistance, the RCMP, and several extended health plans.
