Lisa McLellan is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from City University. Lisa has worked in the human services sector for 26 years in varied capacities. These include: extensive work with adolescents and street youth, and individuals and families in crisis; presenting to varied community groups on issues of parenting, youth concerns, substance misuse and prevention, and work with individuals, families and groups addressing issues related to separation and divorce, substance misuse, trauma, transitional concerns, grief and loss, trauma, and depression and anxiety, as well as other concerns. Lisa also works with clients exploring issues related to adult giftedness and 'left field experiences'-uncommon experiences which can shock and shift one off balance and which may lead to a transformation in one's way of being.

Using a compassionate, client-centered humanistic approach in her counselling, drawing from the theories of the schools of cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, narrative and existential therapies Lisa works to ensure that her clients move toward their goals in counselling in a timely and effective manner while at the same time feeling heard and understood.

Client safety and professional ethics are of primary importance to Lisa in the counselling relationship and she particpates in ongoing professional development as she continually works to ensure that her client's experiences of counselling are beneficial, positive,and safe, and sometimes, even fun.

Projects Lisa has been involved in this year include completion of a fictional novel and organizational support as a contractor to Options Community Services in Surrey for successful COA certification.

Lisa is a registered service provider for the Crime Victim Assistance Program, Air Canada and the Vancouver Coastal Health Employee and Family Assistance Program.
