Additional Information about this counsellor or psychologist:
Lindsay is a Canadian Certified Counsellor with a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Trinity Western University. She has concentrated, both in her practice and in her research, on working with survivors of trauma. Often trauma creates difficulties in various aspects of life including relationship issues, depression, anxiety, and general difficulties coping. Lindsay works with individuals and couples who are interested in seeking help for any of the following concerns:
- Relationship Issues
- Divorce/Separation
- Parenting Support
- Life Transitions
- Stress
- Depression
- Post Traumatic Stress
- Past Trauma
- Current Abuse
- Historical Abuse
- Anxiety
- Grief and Loss
- And other pervasive problems that interrupt the enjoyment of life
Lindsay's approach to counselling is often called integrative. This approach integrates various therapeutic theories and practices to meet the unique needs of each individual. Within this approach, Lindsay often draws from attachment theory. She has found that people’s early childhood experiences in attaching to others, particularly their primary caregivers, can have an incredible “trickle-down” effect over time and often appears later in difficulties coping, in relationships with others, in a sense of self-esteem and so on. In addition, Lindsay also uses tools such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Observed & Experiential Integration (OEI).
Lindsay's beliefs about counselling center around a collaborative partnership between herself and her clients. She truly believes that each person is their own “best expert” and that therapy is about working together to seek greater awareness, understanding and solutions.
