Karen provides therapeutic counselling services to individuals, couples, and families who are confronted with difficult issues. She is experienced in working with individuals who have experienced a deep, personal loss as a result of death, illness or relationship breakup. Karen helps people navigate their own grief journey so that they can emerge renewed, with a much better understanding about life, relationships and themselves. She is skilled in working with individual adults and adolescents who are struggling with anxiety/panic, depression and other stress-related disorders. And she has extensive experience in working with individuals who have experienced trauma as a result of physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse and in helping individuals heal from medical/dental trauma and motor vehicle trauma.

Karen has extensive experience and training in working with couples who are struggling with how to effectively communicate with one another, feeling emotionally distant from one another, and perhaps arguing and fighting on a regular basis. She is skilled in helping couples learn to resolve conflict, listen to one another's needs and feelings, and find ways of restoring intimacy and excitement into their relationship.

Karen also combines a firm foundation in understanding families, extensive experience as a teacher, and an array of constructive tools to assist parents with the challenges of raising their children. She uses empathy, collaboration, humour, developmental awareness, and strength based approaches to help parents plot a course through the rough waters that can often arise when parenting children and adolescents.
