Kathy Simas has helped individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and life circumstances for thirty years. Her core belief is that each person is unique and there is no "one size fits all" road to psychological health. She listens for both the particular stresses and strengths each person brings to the counseling relationship and draws from training in humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural and body-centered psychotherapy. She collaborates with clients to achieve greater self-awareness, improved self-esteem, deeper, more meaningful relationships, and enhanced pleasure in living.

Kathy has experience working with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship and work difficulties, self-destructive and addictive behaviours, the trauma of physical, sexual and emotional abuse/neglect, and sexual orientation and identity.

Dr. Simas is a registered psychologist, member of the College of Psychologists of B.C. She most recently completed Level I (Trauma) and Level II (Developmental) training with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute in Boulder, Colorado.
