Additional Information about this counsellor or psychologist:
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in private practice in Vancouver, BC.
I work with clients experiencing a variety of life challenges including anxiety/panic attacks, depression, addictions (e.g., alcohol, drugs, eating disorders), grief and loss, career concerns, and relationship difficulties. These issues can be difficult to experience and a source of stress and dissatisfaction. Counselling provides a safe space to explore your specific concerns and move toward resolution. I also provide counselling for individuals desiring personal growth.
The focus of therapy varies depending on client’s particular goals. Generally, I support clients to develop more awareness about themselves and how they function in the world. Counselling provides the opportunity for clients to create more “contact” with themselves, exploring how they feel, think, and act. This provides a basis for recognizing areas that need growth as well as identifying strengths and resources already at hand. Through this process, clients gain more understanding of their experience, greater acceptance of themselves, and skills for creating the changes they desire.
I use a Contemporary Reichian therapy approach that is integrative and relationship-based. I draw on a variety of counselling orientations (e.g., humanistic, gestalt, CBT, interpersonal) with Reichian therapy as my primary framework for understanding human development and obstacles to growth.
Reichian therapy is a body-oriented approach that is useful for working with emotion. Incorporating the body into the therapy process (e.g., through breath-work) enhances the gains made by clients. For example, something understood through therapeutic dialogue becomes understood on a “gut-feeling” level through bodywork. The use of bodywork is entirely optional and not required for counselling to be successful.
I provide services to adults, adolescents, individuals, and couples. I offer a free 30 minute consultation by telephone or as part of an initial session, to ensure that me and my approach are a fit for you. If you do not receive a prompt reply to emails, please call as it means I did not receive the email.
